Brussels – from yesterday’s industrial heartland to today
Bolstered by the power of electricity, let’s discover Brussels’ glorious industrial past. For a long time, the canal area was the site of manufacturing concerns, businesses and other industries. Gradually, these enterprises moved out of the capital. For the most part the buildings were abandoned and the canal lost its raison d’être. However, regeneration initiatives have recently mushroomed in this area. Cultural venues and work spaces have sprung up and created new jobs, offering local companies new facilities: we shall discover the genuine Brussels – from yesterday’s industrial heartland to today’s modern face! Depending on the times we visit, it will also be possible for us to go inside and show you some of them.
